October 17, Berkeley
- The US Marines, (Sgt. Otanes, Cpl Kennelly and Cpl.
Dinators - just returned from 6 months in Iraq and now
caring for twin toddlers) detailed from the USMC Reserve Center in
Oakland, CA, met "Dr. Toy" at her offices in Berkeley to
collect toys for the 2006 Toys for Tots campaign. The USMC adopted Toys for Tots
in 1948, and built this into a nationwide community action project as the
'U.S. Marine Corps Reserves Toys for Tots Program'.
Marines at each Reserve Center throughout the nation
conduct toy collection and distribution campaigns in the
communities they serve.
In 2005 the Marines distributed 18.5 million toys to 7.5
million needy children.
Each year, toy manufacturers in the US and throughout
the world send products to Dr. Toy for testing. For
decades she has contacted the Marine Corps and donated to Toys for Tots after
completing her annual Award Programs.
Dr. Auerbach thanks the
Marines for taking the time to visit her and collect
these many fine toys to bring them into the hands of
children. She knows that the Marines have many
other duties and she appreciates the special services
they provide to children in need.

Dr. Auerbach will attend the
Toys for Tots Kick Off event in Arlington, VA, on Nov
17, 2006.
